Scholarships are a great way to help make college more affordable. There are thousands of dollars that scholarships offer that goes unclaimed every year. With all the opportunities around, it can be difficult to know where to start looking. Start small. There are scholarships that are just offered to students at Glencoe. From there, expand your region! There are scholarships for students in Hillsboro, Oregon, Pacific Northwest and nationally.

7 Steps to Scholarships
1. Check Naviance for scholarship listings. There are local scholarships that are added daily to the database. Naviance is a great college search engine too!To log in to Naviance, see the website and instructions below.

2. Scholarships for Oregon high school students are available through OSAC (Oregon Student Access Commission). Click here to start an application that can be used to apply for multiple scholarship! Priority deadline is February 15th at 5:00 PM. Regular deadline is March 1st! OSAC allows you to complete one application for multiple scholarships such as the coveted Ford Scholarship! 3. Scholarships for specific colleges. Always check the websites of the colleges/universities you are interested in attending. Many of them have institutional scholarships available. Keep in mind that some have different deadlines than the regular college admission process. Look under the college website's "Financial Aid" section for details.

4. Check out Fast Web, an online database for national/state/local scholarships. When you enter the site you can log in, set a profile, and apply for scholarships that fit your location, colleges your interested in, ethnicity, and more that are emailed to you!

6. There are local scholarships that are offered to students at Glencoe High School from generous community members and foundations. There are some scholarships that require individual applications (that can be found in the counseling center) and other scholarships that can be applied for using the Glencoe Scholarship Application. You can download the Glencoe Scholarship List and the updated list of local scholarships below. Each scholarship will specify if the application needs to be completed individually or with the Glencoe Scholarship Application.

7. Oregon Career Information System (CIS). CIS offers scholarship opportunities to students in Oregon. Along with scholarship opportunities, CIS offers webinars to help education parents and students on the scholarship and financial aid process. To see a calendar of events, click here. Tips for Winning Scholarships
There are THOUSANDS of scholarships available to high school students to help cover the cost of post-secondary education, including 2-year colleges, 4-year colleges, and trade/technical schools. Below are some tips on how to begin the search process:
- Apply for local scholarships first, then state, then national. The more specific the location is, the fewer students you are competing against.
- Look for scholarships that meet your background and interests. There are scholarships specifically for people from different ethnic backgrounds, as well as scholarships for students interested in pursuing a particular field of study.
